Kennel Club "Endorsements"

What are endorsements?

Kennel Club regulations allow the registered owner of a dog to place endorsements on a dog's registration document, provided that the dog is in their physical possession and registered ownership at the time the endorsements are requested. The endorsements that may be placed are:

R - PROGENY NOT ELIGIBLE FOR REGISTRATION

X - EXPORT PEDIGREE NOT ALLOWED

The first, "Progeny Not Eligible For Registration" prevents a dog's progeny (offspring) from being registered with the Kennel Club.

Similarly, "Export Pedigree Not Allowed" does not prevent a dog from being exported overseas, but does prevent the dog from being registered with an overseas Kennel Club.

Why are endorsements placed?

These endorsements apply to every Powerscourt puppy. The majority of our puppies are sold as "pets" and on the understanding they will not be exported overseas or bred (produce offspring).

How are endorsements placed on a dogs Kennel Club Registration?

Endorsements are usually placed on a dogs registration at the time the dog (and the litter) are registered by the breeder with the Kennel Club.

How are endorsements removed from a dogs Kennel Club Registration?

An endorsement may only be lifted at the written request of the person who placed the endorsement.

N.B. Our pet puppies are sold on the understanding they will not be bred from or exported overseas and so endorsements will NOT be lifted. Full details regarding the endorsements and all terms relating to the endorsements are contained in the puppy/dog's contract of sale.
