Amy was a wonderful character; she was exuberant and very loving. Amy gave us some lovely "children" and all of our current Cockers are direct descendants of her. Amy has also many great, great grandchildren who also have her gentle temperament and loving character.

Amy caught the "show bug" later in life having enjoyed a successful time in the Obedience ring. She wasn't the easiest of girls to show, as she always wanted to see what everyone else was doing! Despite this, she was well placed in all her classes and has to her credit many 1st's and Best of Breed's at Open show level and 1st's at Championship level in strong competition.

Tony Jury (Tibblestone) summed up Amy's approach to showing in the following critique! "Pritchard's Spendles Sparkler of Powerscourt, well made b/w young lady of 7½, nice outline, true to her name sparkled round the ring, but showed she could move when she began to settle"

Amy was very special to me, she was my constant shadow and a very much loved member of our family and it was never my intention to find her a retirement home. However, a very special person came into our lives. David had lost his wife and his cocker and had so much love to give. Being a very mature gentleman, a puppy or youngster wasn’t practical. After much soul searching I decided I couldn't deny David the happiness that I knew Amy would bring him and with many tears of sadness Amy left us to live with David and enjoyed that last four years of her life in David's care.

Amy remained a regular visitor to Powerscourt and we are indebted to David for not only offering Amy the best of homes but also for his unfailing generosity by keeping in regular contact and by bringing Amy to see us so regularly.

Sadly, Amy passed away in January 2010 aged 14 years. She was a very special girl and loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
