Katie is the sweetest of girls with a very quiet, calm and gentle nature. Her gentle ways meant that Katie was very serious where showing was concerned and didn't always display her outgoing, happy and exuberant nature, as she was too busy concentrating on what she had to do!
Katie matured into a lovely girl with a lovely gentle and fun loving nature. Katie was lightly shown and was always well placed in good company.
Katie had a litter in 2006 (by Powerscourt Paternoster who is litter brother to P. Power Of Love) and proved to be an excellent Mum! We retained a delightful son who we have called Stan (Powerscourt Pingu). Stan has developed into a lovely dog and we are pleased he inherited his Mum's charming ways. Katie is also Mum to Kea.
Like her mother, Katie was an excellent Mum but struggled at delivery time. We decided we would retire Katie from maternal duties rather than put her through a further long and protracted labour.
Katie is KC/BVA eye tested Clear for CPRA/GPRA and Glaucoma, she has also been OptiGen prcd-PRA and FN tested as genetically Normal/Clear, meaning she is statistically normal for prcd-PRA and FN and will never develop these diseases or be capable of passing them onto her offspring. She is also hip-scored with a low score of 4 : 4 (8).
Katie now retired from the show ring and is living with our friend Hilary. All our dogs are precious but as with most things in life, some always manage to creep even further into your affections and Katie is a perfect example. She was always a pleasure to live with, she was a loyal and devoted mother and played "auntie" to any pups she happened to find in need of love and attention. The gap she leaves at Powerscourt is huge! Have a good retirement precious; we miss you more than words can say. xx
